Dangu Ranga Mohan Chakma former ZPM District President joins Chakma District Congress

KAMALANAGAR, 24 June 2022: Former founder President of the Chakma District unit of Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) Dangu Ranga Mohan Chakma joined into Chakma District Congress in its 53rd Friday Political Session held at Congress Bhawan, Kamalanagar today.

Dangu Ranga Mohan Chakma was also the former District President of Bharatiya Janata Party in Chakma District before he joined ZPM. He mentioned in his joining letter, “Joining Congress to serve for the welfare of the people of CADC and it's development”.

The joining of the senior leader has given a great boost to the party workers of Congress Party. He had an illustrious career as a senior government officer in CADC as well as a social worker and a politician. He was the first Circle Education Officer (CEO) in CADC and resigned from his post in 1982 to work for the Congress party. When Congress won the election, he again joined the government service in 1983 and worked for 38 year until he retired as a top level senior officer of Chakma Autonomous District Council.

While speaking to the session, the senior leader said, "I am very happy to come back to the original party where I worked 40 years ago in 1982”.

All the party workers warmly welcomed the senior leader into the Congress family. The Chakma District unit of the Indian National Congress is gaining immense popularity as leaders from other parties are joining the party.

The Chakma District Congress has become the first choice of the educated and youths of the Chakma society, under the capable leadership of Dangu Ramani Chakma, President, Chakma District Congress Committee (CDCC).

Recently, several top leaders from other political parties have resigned from BJP, MNF and ZPM and joined into Indian National Congress (INC). The list of the recent joinees into the Congress party is ever increasing and this clearly shows the trust and faith of the people of CADC in the Indian National Congress.
