
Congress Party pays tribute to Nilamber Chakma on his demise

Indian National Congress (INC) Dampa West Block Congress Committee paid homage to the great Chakma leader Shri Nilamber Chakma on his demise.
Shri Nilamber Chakma S/o Shorgo Don Chakma was born on 19th July 1935. He was a great politician and a dedicated social worker. He carried out a lot of philanthropic and social activities for the people of Marpara and Hruiduk and also for the Chakma people of Mizoram as a whole.

He was elected as a Village Council Member (VCM) for the first time in 1969 and was elected as the Village Council President (VCP) in 1972 and had been VCP five terms consecutively in Marpara and two terms in Hruiduk. He was also the President of Mizoram Chakma Welfare Committee from 1995 to 2021 and represented a high level delegation team to Delhi for the purpose of the Chakma community. Later he became a Sramanera in the Hruiduk Buddhist temple from 2010 to 2017 and expired on 23rd March 2022.
