Former Adviser to CEM, CADC Mr Tapan Chakma joins Congress

Former Adviser to CEM of CADC, Mr. Tapan Chakma joined into Congress party today at Congress Bhawan at Kamalanagar, headquarter of Chakma Autonomous District Council in Mizoram.

Mr Chakma recently resigned from the Chakma District Mizo National Front and joined into Chakma District Congress Committee today. Mr Chakma was an active member of the Chakma District Mizo National Front.

Mr Tapan Chakma was also the former Adviser to CEM, Mr Shanti Jiban Chakma in the previous BJP government in CADC and also held the post of State Council Member of Mizoram BJP. The President of Chakma District Congress Committe, Shri Ramani Chakma warmly welcomed and felicitated the senior leader.

Mr Tapan Chakma addressed the Congress party workers and in his speech he expressed his trust in the Congress party and said that we was confident that Congress party will form the next government in Chakma Autonomous District Council in 2023. He said, “as a former State Council Member of BJP, I am well aware about the background and the establishment of the party in CADC from the very beginning. As a key member of the BJP party I have greatly contributed to the formation of the BJP government in CADC in 2018, but due of internal political disunity among the BJP leadership, the BJP government in CADC became a failure“. He emphasised, ”the future of BJP in Mizoram is very bleak”.

He added, “After resignation from BJP, I joined into MNF party with great hopes and strongly supported it during the last Assembly Election but after formation of the government in the state as well as CADC, the party leadership is not giving any importance to the party workers who worked dedicatedly for the success of the party.“

He said, “under the leadership of Mr Ramani Chakma, more and more youths are joining into the Congress party and I am greatly excited to join the party and work for the development and welfare of the society and the nation”.

All the members of Chakma District Congress committee warmly welcomed Tapan Chakma.
